Thank you for your interest in volunteering with ¡HICA!
¡HICA!'s volunteer opportunities range from weekly office support to special community events to advocacy. We can often find volunteer projects for volunteers of all levels of Spanish. Depending on volunteers' interests, they may work with our Strong Families program, Immigration & Access to Justice program, Community Engagement and Education, or Asset Building and Economic Development program. We also often look for volunteers with special skills such as web or graphic design, translating or interpreting, and event planning. If you are interested in volunteering with ¡HICA!, please download the Volunteer Application. Once it's been filled out, please either email it to volunteer@hispanicinterest.org or fax it to: (205) 942-5525. Interning with ¡HICA!
¡HICA! enjoys having interns year-round to assist with our daily operations and help us complete special projects. Interns have the opportunity to learn about nonprofit organizations, social work, community organizing, immigration law, and Birmingham's Hispanic community. ¡HICA! has three general sessions of internships; Spring, Summer, and Fall. It is not a requirement to be a student to be an intern with ¡HICA!. Legal Interns ¡HICA! works with local law schools to recruit legal interns for th spring, summer, and fall. For details, contact Jeremy Love of the Family Legal and Immigration Services program at jlove@hispanicinterest.org. |
