Juliana was born in Colombia and came to the U.S. in 2005 after she graduated from high school in her hometown. In the fall of 2006 she entered Jefferson State Community College where she obtained an associate of science degree in criminal justice. She plans to continue her education in criminal justice by pursuing her bachelor’s degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Juliana joined the HICA staff in December of 2009 and brings two and a half years of experience working as a legal assistant for an immigration and criminal attorney. During that time she worked closely with immigrants, especially with the Latino community. She likes to dance Latin music and loves to travel, especially going back to Colombia where she meets up with family and old friends.
