Isabel has a BSW in Social Work and a BA in History.  Originally from McComb, Mississippi, Isabel has lived in Birmingham since 1991.  She was moved to start ¡HICA! as a result of the mushrooming Latino immigrant population in the area in the mid 1990s based on her experience of growing up in newly-integrated South Mississippi.  In her younger days, Isabel rode her bicycle from Boston to New York City in 3 days.  When not trying to save the world, Isabel likes to travel and be with her family, the smallest member of which is Baby Kitty, a 20-pound tabby.
