The cornerstone of our programs is the Strong Families program. Thousands of immigrants access this service annually to learn about their new community and find resources to meet their needs. It also works with families in crisis to assist them in finding resources to stablize and improve their current situation.
Case Management
Case managers help clients evaluate their needs and identify resources to help them meet their goals. A wide array of services are provided from simple assistance with forms to providing comprehensive case management services to families.
Spanish Language Victims Hotline
A key component of the I&R Gateway is the 24 hour, seven day a week Spanish language Victim’s Hotline. Only the fourth one of it’s kind in the country, the hotline gives immigrant victims of crime easy access to information and services at any time. The hotline primarily serves victims of family violence, sexual assault and rape.
Bienvenidos a Birmingham Resource Guide
Housed within the I&R Gateway is our Spanish language resource guide, Bienvenidos a Birmingham, which puts valuable information into the hands of immigrants. ¡HICA! distributes this guide to schools, churches, health clinics, and immigrant-owned businesses.
Court Advocacy
For victims of family violence, Court Advocacy services helps them finally find safety and justice. ¡HICA!’s court advocate assists victims to develop safety plans, file police reports and protection orders, understand the legal process, and communicate with the courts.
