Joyce received her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Georgia and her Master of Arts in Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has served on the Mountain Brook High School PTA Drug Awareness Committee and Mountain Brook Anti-Drug Coalition. She has served on the boards of Temple Beth-El, The Levite Jewish Community Center and the Birmingham International Center’s Spotlight Committee. Joyce currently serves on the board of the YWCA and the Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama (¡HICA!).
Joyce is married to Jeff Spielberger and has two sons.
